Mexico

Well--getting a bit closer to departure time, attempting to do a bit of due diligence. Just visited with friends Jonathan and Andy and got yet another horror story. This will just be a list of notes and links.
Worst that could happen: killed? Next worse? Kidnapped, ransomed, who knows. Next? The banditos take everything and leave you naked to seek help (that happened to J's co worker who was with a large group down in baja).

There really is a sort of hysteria. I did travel by bicycle through MX in 2003, for at least a week. 2003-10-19 - 2003-11-10. So it was nearly a month.
Thank goodness for them!

$96, 666 miles, 20 hours on Greyhound from San Diego to Guayamas.
Ferry, Santa Rosalia (baja) to Guayamas: $55.

Even in the people's guide, walking alone on beaches not recommended.

During the bike trip, plan was to leave the border area as quick as possible--on foot this will take longer.

800km, 500 mi from border to Santa Rosalia, 50 slow days walk.

The guy I may get to crew with:
Best thing to do may be to go and start walking--leave a copy of passport here, & in a place not likely to be bothered on me. If it looks bad, feels bad, take bus to visit Michael (redpillsailor). See how that opportunity looks. Then??

Will just be working out some issues with the cell phone now--may be too expensive to use lots of data, msgs in MX unless I can unlock this phone (not likely). So may only post once per week and / or at internet cafes where also may be the only place I check email.

My feet haven't been getting less sore--could be an issue. Will watch it.

Peace,
Colin
